Why we started documenting the street
theatrevoxa.org began as a small collection of photographs taken on daily walks through a handful of neighborhoods. Over time, contributors from other cities and towns began sending in their own images — corner stores, laneways, transit stops, front porches — and the project grew into a broader visual record of Canadian street life.
We are not a news outlet and we do not chase events. Instead, we are interested in the quiet, repeating rhythms of a place: who sits on which bench, which shop opens first in the morning, how a block looks different in July than in January.
What we document
Sidewalks, parks, storefronts, transit stops, and other public spaces where daily life happens.
Who contributes
Photographers, residents, and community members who spend real time in the neighborhoods they photograph.
How it's used
As a public, informational archive — nothing on this site is sold, and no images are used for advertising.
